Avocet Travel Management recognises that SMEs account for a significant part of the British economy. As a result, small businesses have great potential to make a positive impact in their communities through social responsibility and philanthropy.
To add value to our community, Avocet and its Partners support voluntary organisations by:
Fundraising for global causes
In August 2015, Neil and a group of travel agents completed the 20-mile “10 Tor Challenge” across Dartmoor, raising £2,688 for Cancer Research UK in the process. In a previous challenge, they raised £3,665 for the same charity by walking 17 miles around London to visit all the locations on a Monopoly board.
Supporting local community projects
Avocet is a proud sponsor of Gatwick Albion Football Club, a youth football team based in Horley, Surrey, providing the team with their kit and sponsoring their annual awards evening.
Preserving the nation’s industrial heritage
In February 2016, Avocet sponsored a major repaint of the Deltic Preservation Society’s D9009 “Alycidon”, transforming the worn two-tone green livery of this iconic diesel locomotive into the classic British Rail blue colour scheme. The pristine “Alycidon” then went on display at York Railway Museum, and is now busy hauling passenger excursions on both mainline and heritage railways.
