My name’s Alison and I’ve been in the Travel industry for nearly 30 years. I started my career in retail travel—with various High Street brands—before moving into business travel. For me, the travel industry is a way to see the world without physically being there (although I would really like to go to some of the places I send my clients to!), and I enjoy making sure that the individual clients are delighted with the arrangements we make. I really enjoy doing things a little out of the ordinary—flights to airports in obscure places, hotels and meetings in towns that no-else seems to have heard of—and building long-lasting, trusted relationships with clients.

I’ve travelled to a number of places around the world—Europe, the USA, Canada, and even cruising in the Caribbean—but I’m currently hooked on Indochina. It’s still relatively unspoiled, the people are amazing and so friendly, and the scenery and cultural experience is spectacular. It’s hard to choose the most memorable experience, but Ha Long bay in Vietnam has to be up there, along with breakfast in the back streets of Hong Kong and skiing with my children in Banff. Often though we’re travelling in Europe as a family or couple.

I never travel without plenty of travel adapters—with all the gadgets and styling tools I take with me, I need as much as I can get. When heading to more out-of-the-way places I carry a Spork, a universal sink plug and a natty little door lock that beefs up security a little.

I really enjoy cooking and so food plays a big part in my travel. I’ve been lucky enough to eat in some of the best restaurants in the world, but the best time ever was one night in Hanoi, eating Pho Ga (chicken noodle soup) at the side of a busy road. Or maybe that breakfast in the back streets of Hong Kong…
